A large group of fire fighters, many of whom joined by family and friends, assembled at Topa Topa Brewery to raise funds for the latest OC Foundation scholarship to benefit Fire Academy students.

The Ventura County Bomberos, a collection of incredible and motivated fire personnel, hosted its inaugural event on Saturday, July 29. The goal was simple, raise enough funds to award $2,500 for its first allocation. Bomberos’ President, Robert Molina, hopes the first award is presented to an outstanding cadet in Oxnard College’s Batallion 60. If the final tally is correct, it looks as if the Bomberos raised enough for future awards, as well. The event was a big success.

The Ventura County Bomberos Scholarship awards grants to individuals looking to pursue training for a career in the fire service. This includes structural academy, wildland academy, and EMT class.
