Oxnard College’s Community Leadership Fellowship Initiative
Welcome to the Community Leadership Fellowship Program at Oxnard College, a transformative initiative in partnership with the California Youth Leadership Corps (CYLC). Our mission is to empower students to become leaders and advocates for a just and inclusive society.

What We Do: Our program is meticulously designed to prepare students for leadership roles within their communities. Through our innovative learn-and-earn career pathway, students acquire essential skills in community organizing, advocacy, leadership, and development. The CYLC model offers work-based learning opportunities with partner organizations that provide critical services to historically marginalized communities.
Impact on Students and Community: The impact of our program is profound. Students who join the Community Leadership Fellowship Program are not just learners; they become change agents in their communities. By engaging in real-world projects and gaining hands-on experience, our fellows develop a deep understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized communities and learn how to address them effectively. The skills and knowledge they gain empower them to drive positive change, fostering a more equitable and inclusive society.

Financial Support: We understand the financial challenges that students often face. That’s why we offer substantial financial support to our fellows. Participants have historically received up to $10,000 in stipends and a $5,000 scholarship while enrolled in the Fellowship program. This financial assistance ensures that students can focus on their studies and community work without the burden of financial stress.
Your Support: With your generous support, we can expand our reach and impact even more lives. Additional funds will allow us to:
- Support continuing students in our Senior Fellowship program that offers a higher degree of independence and leadership development
- Increase the number of fellowships available, giving more students the opportunity to participate.
- Enhance our curriculum and provide more comprehensive training and resources.
- Strengthen our partnerships with community organizations, ensuring that our fellows have access to the best possible learning experiences.
- Support more community projects that address pressing social issues and create lasting change.
