Metallica Scholars Initiative

The 2023/2024 academic year launched a new workforce education initiative, created by rock band Metallica’s Foundation, All Within My Hands (AWMH). Oxnard College was awarded a $100,000 grant to support career and technical education programs. The AWMH partnered with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to select community colleges from across the country that best demonstrated support of relevant jobs skill training for community college students.

To date, the Metallica Scholars Initiative has helped over 4,150 students pursuing careers in the trades. To date, Metallica and AWMH have invested over six million dollars in the American workforce through career education programs like those at Oxnard College.

Metallica Scholars is a major workforce education initiative that provides direct support to community colleges to enhance their career and technical education programs. These programs provide skills and services to students looking to enter a traditional trade or other applied learning program. Oxnard College is hoping to leverage this seed funding to expand and sustain the program to ensure more local students have the support they need to pursue career and technical training.

Oxnard College is using the grant funds to provide direct support for students enrolled in our four distinguished career programs, who need financial assistance to complete their studies and become licensed professionals. The project will target underrepresented students who would not be able to complete their program or obtain credentials without financial support. The focus of this project is on the following high-demand programs.

Culinary Arts – Purchase professional knife kits
Dental Hygiene – Support the purchase of dental instrument kits
Fire Technology (Fire Academy) – Purchase fire safety boots and gear.

You’re invited to join the All Within My Hands Foundation and make a contribution to create greater impact of the Metallica Scholars Initiative.
