Meet Maria Thayer, who recent joined the OC Foundation Board of Directors.
Maria works at California Lutheran University as the Director of Hispanic-Serving Institution Initiatives and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice Programs. As a first-generation college graduate, Maria’s mission is to make higher education accessible to all students. She brings 16 years of leadership experience to the campus. She received her bachelor’s from CSUN in Psychology and Chicana/o Studies, a master’s from CSUCI in Business Administration (MBA) and is currently a doctoral candidate at California Lutheran University.
Maria serves on Oxnard College’s Foundation board because it aligns with her social justice values and goal of empowering community members through education. She looks forward to assisting the Foundation in supporting Oxnard College’s campus development, student scholarships, and educational programs. Her priority this year is to help the Foundation raise funds and provide more students with the financial support they need to succeed in college.
