OC’s University Transfer Center hosted its annual Transfer Ceremony on Friday, May 5 to an auditorium full of administration, faculty, students, and families. The end of the year celebration recognized students for their academic performances noted their pursuits of further education. The event was co-sponsored by Proyecto Exito and the OC Foundation.
Attendees were inspired by remarks made by Letty Mojica, OC’s Transfer & Honors Counselor, and Oscar Cobian, OC’s Acting President. A highlight of the event was the alumni student panel, which revealed keen insight into what transfer students can expect during their first year at the university level. Panel participants included Gabriela Rodriguez, Title V Grant Coordinator for Proyecto Exito, Emilie Cuevas ’22, a Speech, Hearing and Language Sciences student at San Diego State University, and Karina Rios ’22, a Sociology and Deaf Studies student at Cal State Northridge.
The OC Foundation was pleased to be a part of the ceremony, as its scholarship grants for transfer students were presented during the overall Presentation of Certificates.
The event provided an opportunity for scholarship donors to personally meet their scholarship grant recipients. They and the other attendees enjoy a nice meal, which included a live mariachi band. It was truly a wonderful event.
